Vivian Yanzhe Yu

Vivian Yanzhe Yu is a pianist and composer based in Chicago. Vivian is trained in the classical music tradition with a fondness for electronics and ambient soundscapes. Her approach towards music is the free-flowing and seamlessly blending both the electronics and acoustic together. Vivian is also a member of the Power Ambient Duo Magick Potion.

Vivian’s piano works are lyrical narratives that exercise in structure, emotional exploration and storytelling. In her electronic work, Vivian shapes sound through hardware, frequency modulation, weaving melodic phrasing with dark, edgy synth and noise to build an sonically immersive environment where the listeners could freely go wherever their imagination takes them.
In this evenings program, Vivian will share her piano compositions from the album ‘The Unquiet Heart’.  And also share some of her not yet released works. Then she will transition into the sphere of dark electronic music to take you to another place.
